加拿大英属哥伦比亚大学教授Martin J. Mckeown 和副教授王真来访 ( 2011.12.16 )

2011年12月16日,加拿大英属哥伦比亚大学电子和计算机工程系副教授王真和Martin J. Mckeown来访,Martin为大家做了题为“Advances in Imaging in Parkinson's Disease”的精彩学术报告。

陈香副教授主持了本次报告会。报告中,Martin教授首先带领大家回顾了功能神经成像PET和功能核磁共振成像fMRI的发展历程,以及结构MRI成像中的变化在帕金森病人相关变化检测的应用。接着为大家讲述MRI成像在帕金森病人补偿机制的推理作用,通过补偿机制的增进和多巴胺神经元损失的改善相结合的技术实现残疾的整体最小化。

报告结束后,Martin耐心回答了同学们提出的问题,来自生命科学学院的张效初教授就自己感兴趣的问题与Martin展开了讨论。

Martin J. Mckeown’s Bio

Martin J. McKeown graduated summa cum laude in engineering physics from McMaster University in 1986 and received the M.D. degree from the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada, in 1990.From 1990 to 1994, he specialized in neurology at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and later did a fellowship in clinical electrophysiology. He is Board Certified in neurology in Canada and the U.S. and has been an examiner for the U.S. Neurology Board certification. From 1995 to 1998, he was a Research Associate with the Computational Neurobiology Lab, Salk Institute for Biology Studies, San Diego, CA. From 1998 to 2003, he was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University, Durham, NC, core faculty at Duke’s Brain Research and Analysis Center, as well as an adjunct professor in Biomedical Engineering and the Center for Neural Analysis.

He is currently Clinical Director at the Pacific Parkinsons Research Center, a Professor of Medicine (Neurology), Associate Member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and a faculty member of the Brain Research Centre, University of British Columbia.

His current work includes electrophysiology and fMRI as it pertains to patients with movement disorders. In addition to research, he trains physicians in neurology and treats patients with movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease.
